I have lot of gaudy jewelry that my grandmother left me. Most of it is gold and I was wondering if I could have someone melt it and make something new out of it that I would wear. Where would I find that kind of service?

I just had a jeweler give me a price to melt some gold concentrate flakes to a nugget. This is a very small amount and they wanted 125.00 before buying a chain to put it on.... The gold is only worth maybe 50.00 so what's the point?
Anyway, though you might want to know. Maybe just sell your gold the way it is, and buy something with the credit?..

I will buy the gold from you based on the daily rate of gold. I just moved to Washington from LA and everyone I have compared myself to pays far less than what I will pay you. You can email me at catherinegold@comcast.net

Maybe now would be a good time to learn how to melt it down yourself. A crucible and torch would work.

efore you melt the gold you need acouple of thngs. The first is a flux mix so not to basically explode the gold out of the crusible. Second is you need a type of charcoal stick to collect the impuraties from the gold scrap.
